Temporary Holding Facility
The South Chicago Heights Police Department is a temporary holding facility. Arrestees who fall within certain classifications may be detained in the South Chicago Heights Police Department Temporary Holding Facility, including:
- Awaiting pick-up by other government agency
- Awaiting transport to County Detention Facility
- Investigative hold
- Posting bail/bond
- Release on citation
- Release on own recognizance

Prisoner Telephone Calls
Prisoners shall have the right to communicate with family or attorney by making a reasonable number of telephone calls while detained at the South Chicago Heights Police Department.
Prisoner Property
Prisoners released from custody by the South Chicago Heights Police Department will have their property returned after signing a property release form. Due to personal property restrictions by the Cook County Sheriff, prisoners transported to a County Detention Facility will only be allowed to have limited property transported with them. Any property left at the South Chicago Heights Police Department will be inventoried and secured.
Prisoners upon their release from custody can call the South Chicago Heights Police Department Property Control Officer at 708-755-3521 and make arrangements to pick up property. Property not arranged to be picked up within 30 days will be disposed of in accordance with applicable state laws and department policy.
