Police Chief Wagner

Growing up in Steger and South Chicago Heights, Chief Wagner graduated from Bloom Trail High School in 1993. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, and he served for a short time and received an honorable discharge with a medical separation. He volunteered as a police cadet in Sauk Village and became a part-time police officer with the Sauk Village Police Department in 1996. Since then, he has been an active member of the law enforcement community for over thirty years. He has a multitude of experience from firearms, special weapons and tactics, traffic crash investigation, public safety administration and management, and he is an emergency medical technician. 

 Chief Wagner has earned a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement management and a master’s degree in public safety administration from Calumet College, Whiting Indiana. He graduated from Northwestern’s School of Police Staff and Command Class #305 and Northwestern’s Executive Management Program. He is recognized as a leader throughout the law enforcement community and served as the Commander for the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.

Chief Wagner is currently a member of the South Suburban Association of Chiefs of Police, Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Illinois Tactical Officer’s Association, the Illinois Association of Technical Accident Investigators. He is a member of the Emerald Society of Illinois Police Association, member of the Polish American Police Association, a Director for the German American Police Association, Bagpiper for the Bagpipes and Drums of the Emerald Society Chicago Police Department and serves as the President of the Flossmoor Police Pension Fund.   

 Chief Wagner is also a member of Kappa Gamma PI National Catholic College Graduate Honor Society, Franklin M. Kremel Leadership Award recipient Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Police Staff and Command Class 305, and the recipient of the Calumet College of St. Joseph Undergraduate Academic Award, class of 2008.
