Mayor's Message

South Chicago Heights' advantageous location in the south Chicagoland area is just a 33-minute drive or a short commuter train ride to downtown Chicago, Illinois.

Our community has the amenities and friendly character of a small tow n while also offering commercial and industrial opportunities. The Village's Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District and Enterprise Zone has enhanced our town's business district, centered on the historic intersection of Chicago Road (Route 1) and Sauk Trail, known as Browns Corner. South Chicago Heights residents enjoy the benefits of close-to-home shopping. Local businesses include Jewel-Osco and Walgreens, as well as a variety of stores, shops and sit-down and carry-out dining establishments.

Within walking distance of our neighborhoods are good schools, parks and recreational areas. The Village provides excellent services while keeping its tax rate low. South Chicago Heights officials are dedicated to a vision of ongoing progress, carefully developing plans for new projects and future construction.
