In response to rising concerns related to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Village of South Chicago Heights Board of Trustees announced that Village Hall, Senior Center and the Public Safety Building will temporarily close to the public beginning March 18, 2020 at 12:00 noon. The decision was made by Mayor Terry L. Matthews, the Board of Trustees after learning new details from the CDC, the federal government, and state officials on the coronavirus.
South Chicago Heights leaders hope to reopen Village Hall on Monday, April 6, 2020 pending the status of the coronavirus spread.
Your Public Safety personnel, police and fire operations will continue service during this period. Additionally, Public Works crews will remain with a full complement of staff in the field.
Village Hall’s over-the-counter services are impacted the most due to the temporary closure for both our Water and Building Departments. With counter services temporary closed, alternative methods of servicing the public will increase. This includes the use of email, phone, fax, and the payment drop-box located outside in the parking lot of Village Hall.
